Editorial standards

Our approach combines curated news, identified original sources and open-source economic, production and trade data. Charts should clarify a story: their geography, period, units and source must be understandable without specialist knowledge.

Sources and verification

We identify original sources and distinguish announcements, estimates and confirmed outcomes. A source link is evidence to review, not independent confirmation of every claim. Conflicting facts and uncertain dates require editorial review.

Dates and quantities

The news date refers to the source development; the site publication date records when our article was published. Capacity, production and sales are different measures. We identify currencies, metric tons, reporting periods and the basis of any comparison.

AI assistance and responsibility

AI assists collection, drafting and translation. Automatically collected material is source material, not an approved article. Publication remains an administrator action. Machine translation may require correction; factual accuracy takes priority over speed.

Charts and interpretation

Charts should identify the data provider, period, geography, units and limitations. An index is not a physical volume, current US dollars differ from constant prices, and trade values are not automatically market prices. Illustrative photographs are distinguished from event photographs.

Corrections and transparency

Report a possible error through our contact form, including the article link and supporting evidence. Corrections should describe material changes and preserve the distinction between the original news date and the correction date. Advertising should be clearly identified.
