Pulp and paper trade, exports and tariffs

Follow cross-border pulp and paper flows and the policies affecting them. A trade comparison needs a defined product code, reporting country, partner, period, quantity and value. Exports and imports describe different reporting perspectives; apparent discrepancies can reflect valuation, timing, classification or re-exports.

Understand the measure

Separate physical quantities from trade values and identify the original quantity unit. A value divided by quantity is an average unit value, not automatically a quoted market price. Distinguish current US dollars from constant prices and avoid mixing wet-weight, dry-weight and other quantity bases.

Read the tariff scope

Identify product coverage, origin, destination, effective date and investigation stage. An announced proposal is not an implemented tariff; company-specific duties can differ from other rates. Preserve links to official notices and flag uncertain treatment for review before drawing commercial conclusions.
